The World Internet of Things Convention 2025 and First Conference on Sustainable Development of Global Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy, an annual event for global Internet of Things (IoT) industry and digital economy, hosted by the international organization "World Internet of Things Convention", were grandly held from November 28 and 29, 2025 in Beijing, China.

Themed "Intelligently Interconnected New Economy, Smart Society in the New Era", this year's annual conference comprised Opening Ceremony, Ambassador Forum, World New Economic Forum, World IoT Top 500 Summit, International Cooperation Forum, Industrial IoT Forum, Workshop on AI+IoT Integrated Development, Smart Energy Forum, Transportation and Intelligent Vehicles Forum, and Standardization Forum, to name a few. Included in this event were the release ceremonies of the Declaration of Global Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy and Social Development.

Preface

The world has witnessed several epoch-making revolutions of agriculture, industry, and information, each of which has brought about enormous development changes and progress in economy and society in the history of mankind. Cutting-edge and emerging new technologies such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and quantum computing are driving human beings to make big strides into a new era of “smart revolution”. At the same time, the upgrading of “fully connected” economy towards “intelligently interconnected” economy, together with the transition of traditional digital economy towards advanced digital economy, will, to larger extent, alter the traditional way in which people produce products, live a life and work effectively and reshape the landscape of world economy and society.

Looking ahead, people from all over the world can use emerging technologies including AI, quantum computing and quantum network to build a global IoT-based network which is intelligently interconnected, supporting social and economic development and sectors of production, life and work. This will help build a smart world that is truly fair and just and create a new situation amid changes unseen in a century.  

In alignment with the spirits of the United Nations Global Digital Cooperation and Sustainable Development Goals, and for the purpose of better playing a guiding role in promoting the innovative development of global intelligently interconnected digital economy, gathering consensus and strength of developing advanced digital economy, working together to build an intelligently interconnected smart world and delivering benefits to world people in terms of smart life, production and work, World Internet of Things Convention hereby issues the declaration:

1. IoT and Digital Economy 

The Internet of Things is a smart ecological network combining information, digitalization and intelligence and represents a carrier of global new economy in which the new generation of intelligent information technology, digital economy and real economy are deeply integrated.

Throughout the world, more than 50 major economies are grabbing the highland of developing IoT digital economy in an innovative way. The number of connected things increases at an annual growth rate of about 10 percent, and the annual aggregate of digital economy grows by 10 percent. Currently, the scale of digital economy in the United States is worth more than 15 trillion US dollars, and that of China is near to 14 trillion US dollars. Of particular note, the number of connected things in China is expected to increase by more than 15 percent and is projected to reach 3.5 billion, thus replacing the United States become the largest country of traditional digital economy before 2027. 

China is taking the lead in the transformation and upgrading of digital economy and innovative as it ranks first in terms of the number of invention and creation patents and the scale of digital economy supported by the internet of things (expected to exceed 40 trillion RMB). In addition, China is home to millions of enterprises with the basic condition of developing the intelligently interconnected digital economy. The country is moving from 5G network to 6G network, starlink and quantum communication. The new quality productive forces comprising new network, new economic model and new business mode are taking shape, thus making China a powerhouse of innovation.

2. Advanced Digital Economic Model and Society

The World Internet of Things Convention, also WIOTC, issued the White Paper on the World Internet of Things and the White Paper on Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy, and released the Initiative of Building the Global Market of Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy. We were the first to introduce the concept and pattern of advanced digital economy and the architecture of Global Market of Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy.

The advanced model of intelligently interconnected digital economy is a new type of economic pattern of visualized production scenarios and real-time tracking and tracing plus commercial/business customization. Its basic principle is to allow all products and articles to be visualized in real-time scenarios including production, manufacturing, storage, logistics, and consumption services through IoT-related intelligent information technologies –all contributing to such new digital economy model. This kind of economic model serves the main purpose of enabling buyers and consumers to see with their own eyes the real-time scenarios of production, inspection and logistics delivery before they buy products and allowing buyers and sellers to trade directly through the internet of things termina and track and trace activities of all sections. This can help prevent intermediaries from interfering in the process of production and sales and reshape the structure of economy and trade while playing a role in supervising producers and reducing business conflicts to lead to a real and trusted economic society that is fair and impartial.

The advanced digital economy also means a new type of digital economy made up of factors of precise data resulting from the new generation of internet of things, advanced digital economy model, new mode of business based on industrial ecological market and new quality productive forces. This represents the highest form of social development and progress for mankind. The ultimate goal of main and ecological market of digital economy supported by the internet of things is to use the internet of things to underpin and operate the global digital economy and society.

3. Transition of Traditional Digital Economy towards Advanced Digital Economy 

The current global digital economy is based upon traditional economy, a kind of economy taking virtual internet integrated information technology and ubiquitous data as factors and internet network as the carrier. Here we call it primary economy. Such economy has its uncertainties when it comes to the precision of data, trust of data, fairness of demand and supply of trade as well as the safety of transaction. From this point of view, we must upgrade the traditional digital economy. The G7 summit regards digital transition as an important topic, which is clear that it is imperative for the transition of digital economy.

The rapid development of frontier and cutting-edge technologies such as new generation of AI, quantum computing, and big data is speeding up industrial changes and revolution, is accelerating the innovative development of intelligently interconnected digital economy, and driving changes from internet to broadband internet of things, upgrading from fully connected to intelligently interconnected and transition from traditional digital economy to advanced digital economy.

The intelligently interconnected advanced digital economy covers various industries of manufacturing, public life, national and social governance. It not only involves connectivity of all articles, things, humans and machine devices but also whole industrial and ecological chains of all things in both physical and virtual spaces connected with production, manufacturing, inspection, storage, transaction, service support as well as the intelligently interconnected principle and ecological market.

The principal and ecological market of intelligently interconnected digital economy supported and run by the new generation of IoT intelligent technology supports smart life, production and work of world people. Not only is this the direction and goal of digital economic transition, but it is also the cornerstone of new situation of changes unseen in a century. For the world economy and society, moving towards a society of advanced digital economy represents another great revolution after agricultural, industrial and information revolutions. Through advanced IoT intelligent technologies, we can build a truly fair and impartial economic society, build a community of shared future for mankind and reshape the new world of economic society for mankind.

4. Sustainable Development Strategies

The Artificial Intelligence is a kind of important technology of making possible the progress and development of world economy and society, but intelligently interconnected advanced digital economy is the theme. The strategic focus of sustainable development is the intelligently interconnected and new digital economy and the building of global ecological market. Therefore, we urge governments and enterprises from countries around the world:

To improve their strategic awareness and cognition of intelligently interconnected digital economy so as to form strategic consensus and decisions;

To make the best use of emerging cutting-edge technologies including AI, quantum technology to establish the internet of things network which is intelligently interconnected, work together to build the principal and ecological market of global intelligently interconnected digital economy, using the internet of things to support and run the world society of advanced economy;

To establish confidence of sustainable development, grasp opportunities of innovative development of digital economy and build a community of shared future for mankind.

Finally, we hope governments and enterprises from countries around the world can strengthen international cooperation to create a society of advanced digital economy that is intelligently interconnected, and to remove conflicts and separation in order to chart a bright course of smart world and seek common progress.
