WIOTC Chairman He Xuming Leads Delegation to Inspect Global Digital Economy Demonstration City
In the spring season of blossoming flowers, Mr. He Xuming, Chairman of the Presidium of World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC), led a delegation to inspect Chongqing, China, the city that was selected as a Global Demonstration City for the Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy last year. Relevant leaders from the Chongqing Municipal Government, Liangjiang New District, Yongchuan District Committee and District Government warmly received the WIOTC delegation. This visit signaled that WIOTC is taking new initiatives aiming at establishing the demonstration city as a global benchmark, encourage its innovative socio-economic development, advance the transition and upgrading of cities and enterprises toward an advanced digital economy pattern, drive global economic and social innovation, and support Global Digital Cooperation and Sustainable Development Goals.


The key leaders from the WIOTC Executive Committee, WIOTC Advisory Committee, WIOTC Organizing Committee, WIOTC Demonstration City Evaluation Committee, WIOTC General Secretariat, and the WIOTC Southwest Liaison Office (China) participated in the inspection, investigation, and discussions in Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area and Yongchuan District. The delegation visited China Mobile IoT Company Limited, Chongqing Pinsheng Technology Co., Ltd., Baidu Zhixing Information Technology (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Yongchuan Tech Film Studio and Yuelai International Convention Center. The visit was strongly supported by the Municipal Bureau of Big Data Development. At the same time, major leaders from the CPC Yongchuan District Committee, District Government, and District People’s Congress, along with officials from Liangjiang New Area, the Municipal and District Bureau of Big Data Development, the District Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Investment Promotion Service Bureau, Liangjiang Industrial Group, Jiangbei State-owned Investment Group, the Investment Promotion Bureau, the New City Construction Management Committee, and the Chongqing IoT Industry Association, among others, joined the discussions and exchanges together, learning about and discussing the development status and cooperation directions of the intelligently interconnected digital economy.

Chairman He Xuming applauded Chongqing for, under the leadership of Secretary Yuan Jiajun of Chongqing Municipality, formulating the “1361” Digital Chongqing Strategic Plan, which has laid a solid foundation for focusing on Global Demonstration City of the Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy. He noted that Chongqing has demonstrated its ability to apply an unified network to support urban economic and social operations, created an enabling business environment for digital economy transformation and innovative development, and came up with suggestions for Chongqing to strengthen international cooperation and drafted the development strategy to achieve the transition from the current digital economy to an advanced digital economic pattern. He also proposed the ideas that we use IoT to support and operate the city’s economy and society. According to him, Chongqing is expected to become the birthplace of the advanced digital economy, a new benchmark for international innovation, and a global model for benefiting the public with smart life and production.
This visit was also accompanied by the following: Mr. Ni Jianzhong, Executive President of the China Mobile Communications Association (CMCA); Mr. Zhang Qin, Member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Senior Advisor of the World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC); Mr. Li Zhengmao, Chairman of the Board of the World Broadband Association (WBBA); Mr. Su Tao, Vice Chairman of the WIOTC Executive Committee; and Mr. He Qiang, Vice Chairman and of the WIOTC Executive Committee and Secretary-General of WIOTC General Secretariat. Other persons-in-charge from WIOTC related departments attended the above-mentioned activities.
